Within the National Program of Rural Development
, supported by the Agriculture, Phishing, Food and Environment Ministry (MAPAMA) and by the Agricultural European Fund of Rural Development (FEADER), the Operative Supra-autonomic Group of Health about GONIPTERUS in Eucalyptus (GOSSGE)
, has gained a grant (for a maximum eligible amount of 61.279,49 euros y co-funded by the EU a 53% and by the MAPAMA a 47%).
This grant for the creation of operative supra-autonomic groups regarding the European Association for the Innovation about productivity and agricultural sustainability (AEI-AGRI) is aimed to the development of a project aimed to establish -through innovation- new prospect systems and new control strategies (especially biological and punctually integrated) to stop the progress of the pathogen Gonipterus
The project will last four months and aims to improve the production and sustainability of the Spanish eucalyptus trees. It aims to respond to the current losses of between 20% and 25% in the production of eucalyptus in Spain by the action of Gonipterus platensis and to promote the biological fight against this pathogen among forest owners, establishing also protocols of monitoring and evolution of the plague of easy application, through the following actions
- Development of innovative techniques in the prospection and evaluation of eucalyptus defoliation and in the diagnosis of the presence of Gonipterus platensis (application of drones).
- Develop an efficient monitoring system with the identified tools and with the participation of the agents involved.
- Promotion of new biological and integrated bio-rational control techniques of the main harmful agent (Gonipterus platensis), affecting the Cantabrian and Galician eucalyptus trees, taking into account environmental safeguards li>
- Reinforcement of this control with the introduction of a new species of Anaphes tasmaniae, which complements and optimizes the current system. Li>
